How To Give

Brown’s rigorous academic life requires library resources that are constantly evolving to meet the demands of students and faculty. Academic journals, electronic databases, special collections, and ample study space are all vitally important to the high-level research
conducted across all disciplines at the University. In January 2007, the Susan P. and Richard A. Friedman Study Center, a 24-hour study space, opened in the Sciences Library. The library also began participation in Portico, a service that provides a permanent archive of electronic scholarly journals.

“When I first arrived on campus, I was introduced to the Library system and was instantly amazed by the number of resources that are available to us here at Brown! The book and journal collections, the technology at our fingertips, and the reference librarians really benefit Brown students. The Library staff are the “gatekeepers” of so much essential knowledge; it must be very rewarding to be such a valuable part of the Brown community -- I am so indebted to them for their assistance, and I appreciate all that they do. And I've just arrived here...”
