Million dollar milestone
Throughout her presidency, President Simmons has called for and depended on generous community support of the University through the Annual Fund. Now the Brown community has the opportunity to honor her through the MILLION DOLLAR MILESTONE: A Record for Ruth participation challenge. When a record-setting 34,317 donors make gifts to the 2011-2012 Brown Annual Fund, the Corporation, Brown’s governing board, will contribute an additional $1 million to the Annual Fund.

- instituting a need-blind admission policy—enabling deserving students with diverse perspectives to benefit from a world-class learning environment;
- improving resources and opportunities for master's and doctoral candidates through the growth and enhancement of the Graduate School;
- introducing first-year seminars—building new students' self-confidence and enhancing their ability to succeed; and
- increasing student-faculty collaborations through a renewed commitment to research and teaching.
