Master's and Doctoral Alumni

Brown’s Graduate School attracts and trains students who are poised to add to the larger world of knowledge and enhance the public and private sectors in so many valuable ways, including championing education, advancing technological innovation, and improving society. Applications to the Graduate School now exceed 9,000 annually and have more than doubled since 2001.

Last year, 2,000 graduate alumni contributed over $442,000 to Brown through the Annual Fund. These gifts provided graduate students in all disciplines with opportunities to conduct rigorous research and engage in interdisciplinary dialogue with colleagues around the nation and the world, receive stipends and funding for conference travel and field work, and team with renowned faculty partners. These are tomorrow's leaders, and your generous support will help Brown prepare them to make lasting contributions—creative, scientific, and analytical—to a diverse range of fields and endeavors, in and out of the academy.

“I was drawn to the M.F.A. program’s emphasis on creative and intellectual exploration, interdisciplinary arts, and cross-genre writing. Reading books written by the program’s faculty (Forrest Gander, C.D. Wright, and others) and recent graduates—particularly Ben Lerner—made my excitement about the program grow even more.” Claire Donato, MFA’10, Literary Arts
